During the 12th to 14th century, the Kakatiyas ruled in the eastern Deccan region (present-day Telangana, Andhra pradesh, Southern part of Odisha, and Eastern part of Karnataka. On the name of the regional Goddess “Kakati” whom they worshipped, they were named, their surname is Battu, their gotra name is Durjaya. Betaraja I was the founder of the dynasty.

In some villages they are Velamas, In some villages they are Reddys, In some areas they Kammas(Chowdharies) & Rajas.

But one thing I can share that is they are ruling class but mingled with their people.

According to Magallu inscription (950 A.D) issued by Dhanarnava and the Bayyaram tank inscription issued by Mylamba mentioned that "the surname of the royal Kakaitiyas is BATTU.

Usually BATTUS are found at Warangal region of Telangana.

There are village names on their surname like Battupally, Battupuram, Bhatvaripally, Battudevulapally, Bhattiprolu etc.

They mingled with their people now. They're polite and honest. Mostly they never wish to share their caste name, they simply says to they're BATTUS.

Kakati is their goddess. As they are shudhras they never encourage Caste System.

Even as a Brahmin I am also not interested in caste system. But it takes at least two decades to remove caste barriers.
