The London eye is very fun. The Tower of London is also great! The London bridge and buckingham palace! even a bus tour! British are friendly. and London is CLEANER than Paris.
The towers that support the Golden Gate Bridge's suspension cables are smaller at the top than at the base, emphasizing the tower height of 500 feet above the roadway
Yes. Much longer.
This is a very good question!LONDON, UKFirst, in the UK, there is THE 'London Bridge', which, going north from Borough High Street, crosses the River Thames to get to King William Street. This bridge is between Tower Bridge to the east, and Southwark Bridge to the west. But this bridge is not the original 'London Bridge'! The present bridge was built/opened in 1973. It was built on the site of the old London Bridge, which had been bought by a rich American and exported to Arizona, America! It is still there to this day and is a favorite tourist attraction! In addition to these two bridges called 'London Bridge' there are many other bridges in London, UK. Tower Bridge is a London bridge, as is Southwark Bridge.London is a big place, and across the River Thames there are more than thirty bridges, including road, rail and foot bridges. Each could be called a London bridge. Of course, in addition, there are also very many more bridges in other places in London.---- OTHER LONDONs: There are many places called London, e.g. in the USA, Canada, and in other countries. Doubtless most of them, if not all, will have at least one bridge. However, there is one London that definitely doesn't have a bridge, at least not as far as we know! It is the asteroidcalled '8837 London.'---- * For more information, see Related links below.
Because Tower Bridge is the only bridge to open to allow tallish boats to pass through it.
Yes and no, London bridge is in London and there has been a bidge on the site for 2,000 years. The current one was opened in 1973. However the previous one which was in place from 1831 to 1968 is in Lake Havasu Arizona! An urban myth that the Amercian entreprenur thought he was buying the Tower bridge has been denied by all parties in the sale. This bridge replaced the much older bridge which stood in pace for 600 years so it's not the original one. The bridge was sold to Robert McCulloch who dismatled it and rebuilt it in a town in Arizona. The townspeople were very disappointed though as they thought they were getting Tower bridge - the bridge that opens up to let ships through. London bridge is a conventional bridge and much less iconic of London to tourists than the 1894 Tower Bridge which is still mistakenly refered to by many tourists as London Bridge.
