A 132 pound snapping turtle was caught in Hope Creek near the Salem Nuclear Power Plant in June of 2004. In May of 1994 a 96 pound snapping turtle was caught within 5 miles of the plant in Alloway Creeek. Large Blue Crabs have also been taken in the lower Delaware River and in Delaware Bay down stream of the plant. One crab reportedly measuring 16 inches across and weighing 13 pounds was caught by oyster fisherman Walter Snoots of Fortescue NJ.
