In Denver the atmospheric pressure is approx 12.1 psi. As you go up in elevation this will drop. Even going up a mere 500' will change it. I had to learn all the de rated values for the surrounding areas for natural gas in appliances. Delivery pressures and orifice sizing will change or you will have under or over firing.

Why does water boil at a lower temperature in denver than in dallas?

Water boils at a lower temperature in Denver compared to Dallas due to the difference in elevation. Denver is at a higher altitude, which means the air pressure is lower, resulting in water boiling at a lower temperature. This is because lower air pressure reduces the boiling point of water.

Is normal barometric pressure in denver higher or lower than in houston?

Barometric pressure in Denver is typically lower than in Houston. This is due to the higher elevation of Denver compared to Houston, resulting in lower air pressure at higher altitudes.

Would the average air pressure be greater at denver Colorado or Orlando Florida?

What is the partial pressure of oxygen in Denver?

The partial pressure of oxygen in Denver is lower than at sea level due to the higher elevation. On average, it is around 20-21% lower than at sea level, which means the partial pressure of oxygen in Denver is approximately 16-17 kPa (kilopascals).

Why is the air different in Denver than in Louisville?

The air in Denver is thinner because of its higher elevation, which can lead to lower oxygen levels. On the other hand, Louisville is closer to sea level, so the air is denser with higher oxygen concentration. This difference in elevation results in a noticeable difference in air pressure and composition between the two cities.

Is there as much oxygen in the air in Denver as there is in Boston?

In both places, 20% of the atmosphere is oxygen. However, in Denver the atmospheric pressure is lower, and the partial pressure of oxygen is lower, so less oxygen is available for respiration, and athletic performance there will be diminished.

Why will denver and Colorado always have lower presure?

Denver and Colorado have lower atmospheric pressure primarily due to their high elevation. Situated at an altitude of about 5,280 feet (1,609 meters) above sea level, Denver experiences reduced air pressure compared to sea level, where pressure is higher due to the greater weight of the atmosphere. Additionally, the surrounding mountainous terrain contributes to local variations in pressure. This lower pressure affects weather patterns and the physical properties of air in the region.

Explain how air pressure affects a baseball game?

Air pressure affects how far a baseball can travel when hit. Higher air pressure makes the air denser, creating more resistance against the ball, causing it to not travel as far. Lower air pressure, on the other hand, allows the ball to travel farther due to reduced air resistance.

how would I solve this what is the answer?

A child takes a helium balloon on a plane from Denver (with an air pressure of 0.83 atm) on a cool day when the temperature is 20C to Boston (at sea level, with an air pressure of 1.0 atm) where the temperature is 5C. Assume that no gas escapes from the balloon during the flight. What is the volume of the balloon in Boston, relative to its size in Denver

How does atmospheric pressure relate to plumbing in Denver?

In Denver, where the altitude is higher than in most places, the atmospheric pressure is lower. This means that water will boil at a lower temperature and can impact the performance of plumbing systems. Plumbers in Denver may need to adjust for the lower pressure to ensure water flow and function of plumbing fixtures are not affected.

Denver and Kansas City are at the same latitude but Denver's altitude is much higher Denver would be expected to have?

Denver would be expected to have cooler temperatures compared to Kansas City due to its higher altitude. This is because the higher altitude leads to lower atmospheric pressure and thinner air, which results in cooler temperatures.

Describe the difference if any there would be between the boiling point of alcohol measured in Houston and in Denver the mile high city?

The boiling point of alcohol in Houston would be lower than in Denver because Houston is at a lower elevation than Denver. At higher elevations like Denver, the air pressure is lower, which leads to lower boiling points for liquids. So, alcohol would boil at a higher temperature in Denver compared to Houston.
