"Chip board" otherwise known as "oriented Strand Board" or more commonly (for short) OSB is for external sheating or floor sheathing only. All interior walls and ceilings should have sheetrock applied to them. This is a Strict fire code in every state I can think of. If you like the look of wood on your walls or ceilings, first apply sheetrock, 1/2 inch on the walls and 5/8 inch on ceilings, then apply chosen wood product over the sheetrock. Particle board resembles " glued together saw dust". It is used mainly in cabinetry work or innexpensive furniture, sometimes on stair treads. In my opinion particle board is not a good structural material. OSB fluctuates with the market anywhere from about $6.00 to$13.00 for a 4'x8' sheet. It sky rockets during hurricane season. "Sheetrock" is a brand name of gypsum board used for fire containment in most buildings, it usually runs about $5.00 to $8.00 per 4'x8' sheet.
The best way to repair particle board sub-flooring is to cut out the bad spot and replace with new board. You can only use vinyl and self stick tile over particle board. Ceramic tile cannot because the moisture in the thin-sets will break down the particle board.
Yes. Particle board can be painted.
To calculate the weight of particle board, you will need to know the dimensions (length, width, thickness) and the density of the particle board. Simply multiply the volume (length × width × thickness) by the density to determine the weight of the particle board.
The ply ma be replace with modern building material as mdf( midi-um density fiber bord), particle board, calcium silicate board, gypsum board, hewer above replacement is totally depend on desire finish & actual use
To fix damaged particle board furniture, you can start by filling in any cracks or holes with wood filler. Sand the area smooth once the filler has dried. You can then paint or stain the repaired area to match the rest of the furniture. If the damage is extensive, you may need to replace the damaged section with a new piece of particle board.

You cannot sand and finish particle board floors with polyurethane. Particle board does not have a finish that would allow any liquid to be put on it. It would disintegrate. Particle board is not a good flooring material.
Yes, you can paint particle board. Make sure to sand the surface first to create a smooth finish, apply a primer specifically designed for particle board, and then paint with a high-quality paint for best results.
Particle (MDF) board is used for making doors, partition & some furniture like shelves.
Ureaformaldehyde is a type of synthetic resin, it is one of the binders/adhesives used in particle board and plywood manufacture.
