Apart from other holidays like Christmas and New Years eve Latvians celebrate Midsummer or "Jani"(say yaanji). The celebration takes place in 23rd and 24th of June. Most common atributes are bein outdoors, a fire, beer and barbecue alongside with singing, dancing and games. There are also tradition to ware crown made out of flowers fro girls and from oak tree branches for men. In 23rd people decorate houses and vehicles with greens. Hundreds of different Latvian traditions are related to Midsummers night when the nights are shortest in the whole year(or around that time). From 23rd to 24th people stay awake as long as they can to see the sunrise.
