The clothing of the Serer people of Senegambia (i.e. Senegal and The Gambia) is called "Serr". It is normally woven by Serer men and believe to bring good luck among those who wear it. Although weaving was a blooming profession in pre-colonial times, the trade is now disappearing due to cheap mass production. There are still Serers who weave authentic Serr but it is now more expensive.
