The Western United States, which includes the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Idaho, Utah, Montana, and Wyoming, is usually associated with the "Old West", which in itself is associated with cowboys, saloons, ghost towns, Native Americans, gold rushes, rodeos, etc. In modern times, the culture of the western U.S. has been influenced by the natives and by Mexican immigrants. California is strongly associated with celebrities, celebrity culture, the movie industry, "Hollywood", etc. Nevada is associated with the gambling and casino businesses; while other states (Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, etc.) are associated with farming and rural life.
