The reason Beloit has an unofficial mascot is because the campus is built around several Native American mounds. The largest of which is called Turtle Mound. The students, faculty and staff take great pride in the mounds and during campus visits the mounds play a prominent attraction showing the beauty of the campus. As a result of this pride the Turtle has become the unofficial mascot of the college.

Yes, parts of it. I work for Rutgers--it's a really big place. There are three Rutgers Universities: New Brunswick, Newark & Camden. All three are separate schools & you will be accepted into them separately. Both Newark and Camden are urban campuses (and I know those cities have bad reps, but honestly, the university districts are kept nice). At Rutgers New Brunswick, there are four different geographical campuses--still all under Rutgers New Brunswick. The Cook/Douglass Campus, Livingston Campus, and Busch Campus are all pretty suburban college campuses. The College Avenue Campus (used to be called Main Campus) is in downtown New Brunswick, and is urban.
