The famous square in Beijing, China is Tiananmen Square. The tower at the square was originally built in 1917 to announce new emperors to the public. Many people though, think of the student protest which happened at Tiananmen Square in 1989 in which many students were killed.

I think you're referring to Times Square, although, Times Square really isn't very exciting. It's got lots and lots of gigantic billboards and flashing neon lights, but that's about it. It's all noise and glitter, with no substance.

There just isn't anything to DO in Times Square, besides buy cheesecake at Lindy's. Except for the souvenir shops, the only shops are big, boring chain stores and chain restaurants, like the Disney Store and freaking AppleBees. It's basically like any mall in America, in terms of the shops.

Twenty years ago, though, it wasn't much better. Back then, it was the biggest hooker hangout in the city. It was all peepshows, prostitutes, and muggers. Then Guiliani came along and basically sold the whole thing to Disney.
