England doesn't have a national costume for male or female?

Some people are not aware of the English National Dress which was researched, developed, and reintroduced into the public domain and is now worn by academics and others who specialise in historic ethnic dress.

Although it can be expensive to buy ready made(c £400) it is very authentic in every detail. It is made in English wool and the women's dress is dyed a blood red with a cream(natural wool) edging about an inch or so in width. This is embroidered with the traditional design taken from the locality in which it is made.

The male costume is also red with cream.A white tunic with red breeches.

Footwear is black traditional English clogs with hammered patterning. A bely and hanging seax is worn. The women's dress includes a purse and decorative amulets, also a silver brooch at the shoulders.

The dress is relatively simple and inexpensive to make, and in a few years will be a fairly common sight, particularly at ceremonial occasions.
