VisitBritain is the trading name currently used by the British Tourist Authority, a statutory body established by the Development of Tourism Act 1969. It is primarily responsible for the promotion of tourism to Britain from overseas and also has responsibility for the marketing of England within the UK. VisitBritain has recently had a significant budget cut and is in the process of making some 40% of its UK-based staff redundant. Its Chief Executive is about to leave the body and its Finance Director has recently left. Its head office is located in Hammersmith, West London. More information on VisitBritain is available on its corporate website http://www.tourismtrade.org.uk/aboutvisitbritain/VBboard/default.asp
