The pay of Mayor has been enhanced from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 per month and that of the Deputy Mayor from Rs 3500 to Rs 15,000 per month, official sources said. Similarly corporators would get a packet of Rs 7,500 per month as against the Rs 1500 they are getting now.
The Government in its order issued today said, the expenditure on enahnced pay has to be borne by the corporation and there would be no Government support. The members can claim allowance for meetings only for two sittings in a month, a cap that came up for criticism by corporators.
