The clothing of the Guatemalans is pretty similar to that of most modern-day Westerners. Almost every Amerindian community, however, has its own specific style of dress. A person's village can be identified by the style of his or her clothes. Traditional clothing is worn more frequently by women than by men, and more often by poorer Guatemalans in general. Western-style dress is more frequent among people with a higher standing in their communities.
