South
The United States Census Bureau defines four regions - Northeast, Midwest, South and West. Arkansas is in the South Region.
Arkansas is split into two distinct geographical regions: the northwestern uplands and the southeastern lowlands. These two regions are divided up into six geographical sub-regions (three in each): the Ozark Plateau, Arkansas River Valley, Ouachita Mountains, Mississippi Alluvial Plain, West Gulf Coastal Plain and a long hilly formation known as€ Crowley's Ridge.
The two main mountain ranges in the Midwest are the Ozark Mountains, found in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas, and the Black Hills, located in South Dakota and Wyoming.
