What traditions does Sicily have at Christmas time?

Sicilians have a 7 fish dinner on Christmas Eve. Most traditions come from the observance of the Cena della Vigilia (Supper of the Eve), the wait for the birth of Christ in which early Christians Catholics fasted on Christmas Eve until after receiving communion at Midnight Mass.

they start decorating on december 8th, on christmas eve they eat no meat but instead have an amazing 7 dish fish. This can include lobster and muscles. Children recieve their presents christmas eve aswell. Christmas Eve is spent with the family and is a massive feast. Christmas Day is spent sleeping in and meeting with neighbours and friends. boxing day (26th) is also a holiday, however on the 27th after 3 days of celebrating it back to normal life. There is then a big New Years eve feast, also considered part of Christmas celebrations. The Christmas season officially ends on the 6th of january which is called the epiphany.
