The two significant losses experienced by the Texans against the Mexican army that helped rally support were the Battle of the Alamo and the Goliad Massacre. The fall of the Alamo in March 1836 galvanized Texan sentiment, as it became a symbol of resistance and sacrifice. Similarly, the execution of Texan soldiers at Goliad angered many and increased the determination to fight for independence. These events ultimately fueled a surge in support for the Texan cause, culminating in their victory at the Battle of San Jacinto.
Texans attacked the Mexican fort at Goliad in 1835 as part of their rebellion against Mexican rule. They sought to gain control of military supplies and secure a strategic position in their fight for independence. Additionally, the Goliad mission was seen as an opportunity to rally support and strengthen their resistance against the Mexican government, which was perceived as oppressive. The attack marked a significant early conflict in the Texas Revolution.

The woman allowed to leave the Alamo to spread the word of the Texans' defeat was Susanna Dickinson. Her role as a messenger was crucial in bringing attention to the events at the Alamo.
If you are referring to the Battle of the Alamo, it is quite simple...they were out of cannonballs. In fact, the History Channel did a special where the Texans also used forks, basically anything they could find to destroy the oncoming Mexican Army. Keep in mind that the Alamo was NOT supposed to be a victory. Sam Houston needed the men at the Alamo to survive and hold out long enough so that Houston's forces would be able to rally, regain ground, and then attack General Santa Anna's forces. He did, and the War for Texas Independence was won. That's basically a nutshell. I am not from Texas, but that's why they used chains.
The siege at the Alamo galvanized Texas settlers, transforming the battle into a symbol of resistance against Mexican rule. The determination and sacrifice of the defenders inspired many Texans to rally for independence, leading to increased recruitment for the Texian army. The rallying cry "Remember the Alamo!" became a unifying slogan that motivated settlers to fight fiercely in subsequent battles, ultimately contributing to Texas' victory in the war for independence.
