Serfs generally do not exist any more, but to the medieval extent, serfs were peasants who farmed land that belonged to a nearby Lord. They lived on the land, took care of it, and got food from it. But most of the crops are given to the Lord as "rent" for the land, even though they broke their backs working on it.
They are basically labourers who are paid in terms of land and food. They got to build houses on the land and grow food and raise animals, but most of the food they grow and animals they raise are given to the Lord in return for letting them stay on the land.

The largest part of the feudal society are either peasants or pages. The kings and queens were usually not popular or anything. My Project Challenge class is learning about this so that's why I answer a lot of Medieval Questions. Hope my answer helped!

In the feudal system, serfs were primarily agricultural laborers who worked the land owned by nobles or lords. They were bound to the land and required to provide labor, produce, and a portion of their harvest in exchange for protection and the right to work a small plot for their own subsistence. Serfs had limited rights and were often subject to the authority of their lords, forming the backbone of the agrarian economy during the Middle Ages. Their labor was essential for sustaining the feudal manor and supporting the overall structure of feudal society.
