Penn came to America because he made a deal with some ruling authority (I forget who, but I believe it may have been the king). Said authority didn't tolerate Quakers like Penn, but he owed William's father a favor, so he gave Penn a plot of land in America, where he and the other Quakers went, settling in modern-day Pennsylvania.
He was English. The king gave him the land grant. He was a Quaker from a wealthy family with large landholdings in England and Ireland.
The Pilgrims and the Puritans came to America to escape religious persecution in England. These groups sought religious freedom and the ability to practice their beliefs without interference.
The Quakers came to North America in search of land.
Originally called Penn's Woods, Pennsylvnia was founded by William Penn. It was founded for religious freedom. Quakers, Friends, Presbyterians, and German Baptists were just some denominations who came.
