John Logie Baird's early inventions did not meet with success. Some of them were attempts at a glass razor, pneumatic shoes, and diamonds made from heated graphite. His most successful invention by far was the television.
The fiascos involving Wall Street and the banking and financial services industries in general were the most shocking and damaging scandals for both employees and shareholders. Sadly, neither industry seems to have made much serious attempts at reform, so it's likely these types of scandals will occur again at some point.
