London was still very small in 1500. During the medieval period London grew up in two different parts. The nearby up-river town of Westminster was the Royal capital and centre of government, whereas the City of London was the centre of commerce and trade. The area between them did not become entirely urbanised until 1600. Life in London must have been similar to life throught England in its other towns.
