What would prevent a lawyer from becoming a member of the Colorado Bar Association?

Attorneys are not required to become a member of the American Bar Association nor a state bar. Reasons for not being accepted other than from personal choice can vary greatly, the attorney may have been censured by the bar and lost his or her standing, the attorney may not be legally licensed to practice in the state, and so forth. The issue of whether or not an attorney is a member does not and should not have any bearing upon his or her competence or professional ethics.
