It snowed briefly in 1976 enough to cover vehicles and turn green lawns white. A lot of kids me included did not go to school that day

It snowed in Tampa in January 1977. I believe this was the only measurable snowfall in the 20th century, with accumulations of up to 1/2" in places.

On December 23 and 24,1989, there was an arctic blast that froze most of the state. I remember seeing flurries of snow across the bay in St. Petersburg, but nothing significant accumulated on the ground.
