The Yugoslavian SKS rifle with the serial number M-515771 was produced in the late 1950s, as the Yugoslavian variant of the SKS was manufactured between 1958 and the early 1960s. The specific year of production can be determined more accurately with additional details, such as the exact serial number and any accompanying markings or features. However, without that information, it's generally understood that SKS rifles with similar serial numbers fall within this timeframe.

Depends on country of manufacture and condition. I am not aware of any publicly available serial number lists for any of the SKS manufacturers, so that is not a helpful bit of info. Russian SKS carbines are the most valuable at this point, with some in excellent condition reaching $400. They are followed by Chinese and Yugoslavian. A beatup Yugo with a rusted gas valve will fetch $100 on a good day.
You do not say who made your SKS.That helps and usually the russian made SKS rifles will have the year of production stamped on the receiver cover.I am not so sure on the Norinco made ones.
