∙ 8y agoThe very first constitution of Mexico was promulgated on October 22, 1814. The constitution became valid throughout the Mexican territories after Mexico won its war of independence against Spain (1810-1821).
Throughout the years, several amendments were made to the constitution, starting on 1824 when Mexico switched from a Monarchy to a federal republic.
The latest major version, which was the result of the Mexican Revolution (1910-1921) was promulgated on January 31st, 1917 and is still in use today.

During the following two centuries, Mexico has had many constitutions due to internal turmoil as well as the natural evolution of democracy and politics. The last, currently used constitution was drafted on February 5, 1917, during the Mexican Revolution (1910-1921) and has embodied the ideals of such conflict.
