The Panama War, also known as the Thousand Days' War, began on October 17, 1899, in Colombia's Panama region. This civil conflict lasted until November 21, 1902, and was characterized by a struggle between liberal and conservative factions within Colombia. The war ultimately contributed to Panama's eventual independence from Colombia in 1903.
