Schützenfest is a traditional folkloristic celebration here in Germany. Nearly every village celebrates it's own Schützenfest. In summer you can visit another Schützenfest in your neighboring villages every weekend! Mostly the celebration lasts from Friday afternoon till Monday evening/Thursday morning!
Then there is Kreisschützenfest (ALL societies from the region of Paderborn celebrate together) in September as the closing of the regional Schützenfest season.
Finally there is Bundesschützenfest at the end of September! This is even bigger than Kreisschützenfest. Often about 350 societies with their Kings and Queens with their grand robes and about 30,000 Schützen take part.
