Music’s foundation is the TONIC. Without it, there would be no melody or rhythm. The tonic is the first note in any scale, and also known as the KEYNOTE. It is the note around which all other notes and chords are built. Music can be played in different keys, but the tonic will always be the first note in the key, and it remains the same throughout in all pieces.
