Coit Tower is awesome, and so are Alcatraz and Sausalito. If you are into people-watching and just generally hanging out, Haight-Ashbury rocks. Plus, a day trip to Big Sur is definitely worthwhile--if you're up there, eat at a restaurant called Napenthe. A must-do while you're there is ride a cable car--and hang off of the side, it's much more fun than sitting! My personal favorites are Haight-Ashbury and Sausalito.
