Best Bakery in ParisThis could cause rioting in the streets of Paris; everyone has a favourite. Mine is the Boulangerie Moliere, at 1 Rue Moliere behind the Palais-Royal. Unfortunately, it closes for August.

There is in fact another Boulangerie Moliere, in Rue du Capitaine Dreyfus in Montreuil, the Eastern suburb of Paris. Far out, but near the metro station (mairie de Montreuil) and well worth the trip.

Otherwise, in Central Paris, the taste of the French for good bread and patisserie is so strong and so discriminating that only the very best bakers survive. So just find the nearest!

There are actually two other bakeries in Paris that might be considered ZEEE Best: Le Boulanger de Monge, at 123 rue Monge in the 5th arrondissement and Boulangerie Alsatienne Raoul Maeder at 158 Boulevard Berthier in the 17th arrondissement.

Finally, I recommend Les Délices du Faubourg a bakery located in the 8th, close to the Champs Elysées, at 180 rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré.

Ask for a "boulangerie", or get in any supermarket. There is a Boulangerie, on aveage, for every 100 people in France. Paris is full of them. They bake the finest bread in the world, mostly by artisanal methods. DO NOT buy bread at a supermarket. They use mass-produced ready-to-bake loaves with added preservatives. Their bread keeps longer and tastes much worse. stick to the real thing and eat it within a couple of hours - three if you buy it still warm. After that, feed it to the pigeons.
