Captain Robert F Scott reached the South Pole on 17th of January, 1912, acknowledging in his diary that Amundsen had got there a month earlier. The last members of the Scott expedition (including Scott) were found dead, on their return path from the South Pole, by a rescue mission in November 1912.
Scott's diary indicated that he probably died on March 29, 1912 -- or at least during the last week of March.
He, together with Dr Wilson and Birdie Bowers were found in a tent less than 10 miles from One Ton Depot, where they could have found supplies. However, they were weathered into their tent for several weeks before their last diary entries, and died on the Ross Ice Shelf, Antarctica.
