In Aberdeen, you can obtain a seaman's discharge book from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) or through an authorized maritime training provider. You will need to provide necessary identification and documentation, such as proof of sea service. It's advisable to check the MCA's website or contact them directly for specific application procedures and requirements.
The cost of a Seaman's Discharge Book and Card varies depending on where it is obtained. Typically, it can range from $50-$100. It is important to ensure that you are purchasing from a reputable source to avoid any issues with authenticity.

No, not normally. When you travel as a crew member you are often given a letter from the master of the vessel stating that you are mariner and the pre-agreed extra amount of luggage. You have to present the letter, your discharge book and passport when checking in. I've only ever been given a letter when leaving a ship, however I have received upgrades or exit row seating when i have presented my discharge book.
