When I visited Peru, I knew I had to see Machu Picchu, and it truly was the highlight. Standing among the ruins high in the Andes, I felt the history and beauty that make it the most popular place for tourists in the country. But for me, the trip became even more special when I explored the Amazon rainforest. From Puerto Maldonado, I traveled by boat to a jungle lodge, and waking up to the sounds of monkeys and exotic birds was an experience I’ll never forget.
I actually found inspiration for my trip on Pinerary, and it helped me realize that Peru is best experienced as a mix — first exploring Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu, then diving into the Amazon for a completely different adventure. Seeing both sides of Peru gave me the perfect balance of ancient culture and wild nature, and it’s something I’d recommend to anyone planning their own journey.
