At The Archive Centre in Birkenhead, and with the help of the staff there, I have viewed a map of the 1880's. The Hughes buildings were a row of dwellings in Leicester St. Birkenhead, off St. Mary's Gate.

The buildings have been cleared (approx 1970) to make way for an industrial estate. Hughes Buildings were close to Birkenhead Pirory, now an historical site, and also close to the entrance of The Mersey Tunnel entrance.
