In terms of political and economic conditions, one would easily claim Costa Rica to be the most stable country in the region, however, these conditions are highly influenced by how other areas of the world do, which means that even this country could become fragile. Without a standing army since 1948 and a high rate of literacy, the image of country is reinforced by the amount of foreign companies settling in it. Does comparing this country to poorer, devastated and stagnant countries of the region make it automatically stand out? Maybe, but there is also true merit to this country's stability.
