The narrow strip of land on the northernmost part of the Antarctic continent -- the Antarctic Peninsula, is not actually an isthmus, because it does not connect to the southern tip of South America. These two land masses are separated by Drake Passage, the wildest water in the world, according to some accounts, with a distance of about 800-kilometre (500 mi).
