The League of Nations
Mussolini invaded Ethiopia in 1935.
the United Nations.
Ethiopia doesn't rely on outside help. Actually they have helped a lot on the outside of them.
When Benito Mussolini attacked Ethiopia in 1935, the Ethiopians were almost helpless to respond. When Ethiopia's Emperor Haile Selassie appealed to the League of Nations for support, not one nation volunteered any help, making a mockery of the League's entire purpose of existence (collective security). If no one was willing to help Ethiopia, then no one would come to the defense of another nation if it too is set upon by fascist aggressors. The weakness projected by the League would only embolden the dictators. Selassie predicted this would be the fate of any number of European nations when the fascists targeted them: sacrificed, left alone to the enemy in order to preserve a meaningless peace. As the events in Europe concerning Austria and Czechoslovakia later showed, he was right.
Ethiopia at the time was ruled by Emperor Haile Selassie in 1932. Ethiopia had valuable exports and at the time they were also forming a modern army with the help of several European powers, but was purchased with their own money. This military army was small to European standards, but not to the Italians, it really stressed them out. Due to their holding in Somalia France, seeking to have the Italians harmlessly expend their aggressive energy, gave the green light to an attack on Ethiopia in 1935, in exchange for concessions regarding Tunisia.
Other nations did not help Ethiopia because World War I memories made them fearful, and much of the world was in economic ruin.
They sent troops to ethiopia to help them to back on the advancing italian army
Because the Ethiopian army wasn't well trained and theequipment was to old and they were not able to defend themselves against musterdgas and airattacks. The Italians had 10 times as many soldiers. And because the international agreement within the league of nations to help any country that would come under attack, in this case Ethiopia, would get help from the international community. But they didn't intervene. (excuse my for my English)
During World War 2, Italy invaded Greece. Also, Italy did invade and capture Ethiopia (1935-1936) and Albania (April 1939. However, Italy did help Germany to invade parts of Yugoslavia and France during early years of World War 2.
Selassie, Emperor of Ethiopia, was advising the League of Nations to stop Mussolini. Italy invaded Ethiopia in 1935 and occupied the country, using chemical weapons in addition to modern armaments. Forced into exile, Selassie warned of the ambitions of Italy and the Axis, after the League of Nations failed to intervene in Ethiopia.
Mission Statements are supposed to explain what an organization does, or why an organization exists. A clear mission statement helps workers understand how they can contribute to what the organization does. Thus, like an invisible hand, the clear mission statement leads people in a particular direction, guiding them to make decisions that help accomplish the organization's mission.
