The Golan Heights. Syria wants it because it was part of Syria from the UN partition
in 1948 until Israel took control of it in the 6-day war in 1967. Israel wants to hold
onto control of it because when Syria controls it, the Syrians have this nasty habit
of lobbing heavy artillery from the Golan down onto the farms, kibbutzim, and towns
in the valley which the Heights overlook. Realizing that somebody could potentially
get hurt like that, Israel has been holding onto the region until some kind of treaty
or other agreement can somehow bring some degree of safety for its citizens in the
neighborhood. At that point, who knows ? The Golan could conceivably be on the table,
just as the whole Sinai Peninsula ... many times the territory of the Golan ... was
returned to Egypt after Egypt and Israel joined in a peace treaty.
Israel is.
I am pretty sure it is Jerusalem

There is no river per se that causes Israeli-Palestinian or Israel-Arab conflict. Fresh water in general is hard to find in the Middle East and the allocation of that water is hotly contested. There have Israeli-Syrian conflicts over the Sea of Galilee (Yam Kinerret or Bahria Tabiria), which is a freshwater lake. There have been conflicts over underground aquifers along the 1949 borders of Israel and the West Bank. There have also been occasional skirmish between Israel and Jordan or Israel and the West Bank over the Jordan River, but as the Jordan does not carry a lot of water, such conflicts have been minimal compared to the other two conflicts mentioned.

No. But it can seem to be, where it refers obliquely to an action, rather than a noun.In the sentence "The food is hot" the word hot is an adjective describing food.In the sentence "The food should be served hot" the word hot seems to be an adverb, indicating the manner in which the food is served - many dictionaries classify it as an adverb in these cases. However, it is a condition, not a manner; it is not the serving that is hot, but the food. The actual adverb is "hotly" and it is used to describe the manner (often metaphorical) of an action, e.g. The sun shone hotly on the rocky plain.
