Who is Pandora and what did she do?

She is a mythological figure: the first woman. As the story goes, she was too curious for her own good. Kind of like Adam and Eve, who were told to eat of any tree in the Garden of Eden except one... Pandora was told not to open one container (usually referred to as Pandora's Box). She ends up opening it anyway (again, similar to Eve), and letting evil into the world. Pandora is a human that was given a box, and told that she was never to open it. but then one day, her curiousity got the better of her and she opened the box letting loose, all of the evils in the world. only hope remained in the box
