Aigisthos, also known as Aegisthus, is a character in Homer's "The Odyssey" who plays a significant role in the background story of Agamemnon's fate. He is the lover of Clytemnestra, Agamemnon's wife, and conspires with her to murder Agamemnon upon his return from the Trojan War. Aigisthos represents treachery and betrayal, as he takes advantage of Agamemnon's absence to seize power. His actions ultimately lead to his downfall, as he is killed by Orestes, Agamemnon's son, in revenge for his father's murder.

Because odyssey means a long trip or journey
An odyssey is like a perilous adventure. In the book "The Odyssey," Odysseus goes on an everlasting journey that involves courage, strength, and smarts. It is called "The Odyssey" because it describes his odyssey. An Odyssey could also be a mini-van made by Honda.
Prince Orestes killed his mother Queen Clytemnestra and her lover Aigisthus for revenge eight years after they murder his father King Agamemnon for revenge. King Agamemnon had left with an army to help his brother Menelaus fight for his kidnapped wife Queen Helen in the Trojan War. While he was gone, Aigisthus seduced Clytemnestra and took over the kingdom Argo/Mycene. From the Odyssey: "At once Aigisthos arranged his plot…Then he went down, with murder in his heart, bringing chariot and horses to invite King Agamemnon; and so he brought him up suspecting nothing, and feasted him, and killed him, as one might kill an ox at the manger. [Homer 55]" "But in the eighth year came his ruin; Prince Orestes came back from Athens and killed his father's murderer, the traitor Aigisthos, because he had killed his famous father. [Homer 39]"
