Lee Myung-Bak is the current president of South Korea... I would know because I am South Korean.
Lee Myung-bak was the President of South Korea in 2011. Before taking office as president on 2008 February 28, he was elected to the national assembly in 1992 and re-elected in 1996, before resigning in 1998. He later became Mayor of Seoul in 2002.
Currently the Samsung Tower Palace in Seoul (866 feet) (completed in 2004). The tallest building in all of Korea however is the Ryongyung Hotel in Pyongyang, North Korea. The Yongsan Dream Tower in South Korea will overtake its North Korean counterpart when construction starts on it in 2011.

Jong-Il died on 2011 December 17, and was succeeded by his son, Kim Jong-un whom currently acts as dictator and Supreme Leader of North Korea.
