the slaves were simply taken from Africa, they actually had a longer lifespan as a slave in America than a free man in Africa. so they went without fight. not all of the owners BEAT the slaves. they however were not looked at like human men and women, it was said that they had no souls. where the KKK later spirred from this belief, that "black" men and women have no souls.
