The first emperor of China was Qin Shi Huang(259 BCE - 210 BCE), also known as Shi Huang Di(Shi Huangdi) and Yin Zheng. He reigned from 221 BCE until his death.

Qing Shi Huang was mainly known for creating the first peaceful and "unified China" as China had many different warring states. Some of his well-known contributions are:

  • building the first section of the Great Wall of China.
  • ordering the construction of the Terracotta Army.
  • systemizing the use of the Chinese written language.
  • creating a system for currency.
  • the massive construction of an intricate road system.
