Walnut Grove, Minnesota, was founded by a group of settlers in the late 1870s, with significant contributions from Charles and Mary F. S. Brown, who were among the early pioneers. The town was officially established in 1878 and incorporated in 1881. It gained further prominence due to its association with author Laura Ingalls Wilder, who wrote about her childhood experiences in the area.
