Columbus made his famous voyage in 1492, landing in the Caribbean islands, while Pizarro led expeditions in the early 16th century that resulted in the conquest of the Inca Empire in modern-day Peru.

Spain's explorations mostly focused on the Americas. For the greater part they took place between 1492 and roughly 1550, with only a few expeditions after that. So the time span for most of Spain's exploration would be 60 years.
Cortes and Pizarro's expeditions were characterized by their military conquests of powerful indigenous empires such as the Aztec and Inca, respectively. Unlike other explorers who focused on exploration and trade, Cortes and Pizarro sought to conquer and colonize territories for Spain. Their expeditions led to the fall of these empires and the establishment of Spanish control in the region.
