On September 11th 2001, emergency responders from the FDNY, NYPD and various other agencies raced to World Trade Center after the two towers were struck by commercial airliners. 343 firefighters were killed that day, mostly when the towers collapsed. Since then many others have died from various injuries and illnesses associated with that day mainly respiratory problems from breathing the dust and debris.
From what i have researched, 123 firemen died on September 11th. Although i am not absolutely positive. x
