Women in Afganistan under the Taliban rule could not go out in public without their husband or close male relative. The answer is complicated in the sence that The taliban which consisted of Islamic exstremists who believed that women were 2nd class and did not deserve rights and were only there to produce children and please their husband. Therefore there were an extensive list of laws which women must abide and some which continue to this day. One law of such was that women could not go out in public without there husbands or close male relative because it was thought that they would attract men whom they would have affairs against there husbands this is not the sole reason but this like many have no logic and in some cases perhaps like this don't have a reason at all unless you understand the Talibans way of thinking in a complex ideaology
