Coach Dodd thought a player offered a scholarship should stay on scholarship until they graduated. He thought giving out 45 schollies each years was way too many and allowed the team to basically have tryouts for the team before settling on who stayed. He thought if they didn't make the team it was the coaches fault for not evaluating talent well. this was called rule 140. Dodd wanted it changed when it came time for a vote the presidents voted 6 to 6 to keep the old rule. Tech then announced they were withdrawing from the SEC.
The Georgia Bulldogs have won more SEC football games than Georgia Tech because Georgia Tech is in the ACC, not the SEC Actually Geogia Tech used to play in the SEC, before Bear Bryant screwed it up.I do not know who has more SEC wins, yet Ga. Tech has more overall Conference(SEC and ACC) and more Nat. Champ. than Georgia.
Georgia Tech has won 5 SEC championships
As of the 2008 season, Georgia Tech's all time record against the SEC is 198-206-24.
Zero, because Ga Tech is not in the SEC. Wrong!! Ga. Tech used to play in the SEC, don't try to answer if you don't know what your talking about! Georgia Tech has won 5 SEC Champ. before Bear Bryants ignorance of what the first part of STUDENT-Athlete caused Ga. Tech to move to the ACC.But, overall Ga. Tech has 16 Conference Champ.
Through the 2008 season, that is Mississippi State who Georgia Tech has played three times (1908, 1929, 2008) and won all three games.
Georgia Tech won the SEC football titles in 1939, 1944, 1951, and 1952. Tulane won titles in 1934, 1939, and 1949. (1939 was coincidentally a tie between the two schools.) The only other team to leave the SEC was Suwanee, who despite earlier football success, never won a football game in their time in the SEC.
Georgia Tech is short for Georgia Institute of Technology

Absolutely not. The ACC is consistently undervalued, but has a lot of great teams. With the addition of Miami, Boston College, and Virginia Tech, it is a conference that no one will take lightly. The only ways I see Georgia Tech leaving is if the the ACC were to not retain the automatic BCS bid or if the BCS is reconfigured to a playoff system. I took a look at the record for this year, and by my count the ACC is 6-4 vs the SEC. (Could be 7-4 after the Chic-fil-a bowl)
