Why did the Falklands war began?

The Falkland Islands are British territories' but they are found by Argentina in South America. The Falklands Islands war started in April 1982 when Argentinean forces invaded the Islands. The British government sent Air, Sea and ground forces and dislodged the Argentinean army after two and half months of bloody war.

Ever since 1833, the United Kingdom has owned and controlled them but Argentina has consistently believed that the islands (which they call the Malvinas) are rightfully theirs. In 1982, the Military Junta that controlled Argentina invaded the islands. At the time, Argentina was suffering from severe economic problems and unrest and the Junta, led by General Leopaldo Galtieri, were unpopular. They hoped that retaking the islands would improve their popularity and believed the British wouldn't care much about it.

The Falklands (or Islas Malvinas in Spanish) had always been a source of Friction between Britain and Argentina. Being located so close to Argentina, yet being a British territory, was a big source of embarrassment for the Argentines. Due to a United nations code, In order for Britain to concede the Island to Argentina the people living their would have to have a referendum. Because of their British heritage, the islanders were unlikely to do this. The military Junta at the time in Argentina used a trick often employed by despots to avoid internal problems by uniting the people against a common enemy.

Argentina's economy was performing poorly and the Military attacked the Falklands to divert peoples attention and concentrate an "Its all Britain fault" tactic. Refusing to concede sovereignty of the islands the UK sent a task force to liberate the Falklands.

In a land battle lasting just under a month, The islanders were back under British control.

In Summary, the main motivation for war was the instability of an Argentine Military government to maintain control over domestic policy. Uniting the population against a perceived common foe was employed greatly throughout the 19th and 20th centuries by Despots hell bent on either domination, power or both. With a mush decreased British military presence in the South Atlantic, the Argentinian military saw this as a quick win. The people would be able to rejoice together to celebrate an end to a lasting embarrassment. The Juntas hoped that subsequent shortcomings in domestic fiscal and domestic policies would be sidelined and forgotten. Unfortunately Margaret Thatcher used similar "Uniting the people against invaders of British territory"tricks to ensure war was inevitable.

But it was mostly about a world-wide recession in the early 1980's that was a severe recession in Argentina (600% inflation), and the Argentine "President" Leopoldo Galtieri (he was the head of a military Dictatorship) decided to invade the Falklands to distract his very unhappy citizens from their economic hardship.
