I'm not real sure where you are coming from with this question. In a very real sense, the Church is Israel, the real Israel. When God first revealed Himself to the Jews, it was with the express purpose of making Himself, and His Law known to all of mankind. The Israel of the Old Covenant was drawn back into itself in an effort to keep it holy for the Messiah that was to come, but when the Jews that did accept the Messiah began the Church under the New Covenant it was still very much Israel, and the rest of the world is gradually, painfully slowly, but gradually, coming to recognize Him. Thus the Church is the New Israel, if you will, the Israel that did accept that Jesus was the promised Messiah. If you use the word "Israel" to refer to those who are still under the Old Covenant and are descendants of those who did not recognize Our Blessed Lord as the Messiah, you also must recognize that many did accept Him, and we are their descendants, spiritually, if not physically.
ANSWER: The church is NOT Israel. I realize that the Catholic Church leans in this direction, but there are many differences between the Catholic Church and the rest of Christianity.
You will be mislead in many doctrines if you believe the church is Israel. They are two different programs in the New Testament age. The only Jews at the present time who are under the New Covenant are Individual Jews who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. (We are in the New Covenant age, but it will do you no good if you do not except it) . A careful reading and study will reveal that God has not finished with the Jewish people as of yet. There is a time coming when Israel will come into a great prominence and the program God has for them is very much different from the church.
This theology is called "Replacement Theology" and it is not according
to the Bible.
It is important to know the difference as you will be misled especially in eschatology. You will most certainly go through the Great Tribulation period that is coming upon the whole earth.
Here is but one prophecy that will NOT be fulfilled if the church and Israel are the same. Jeremiah 31:31-32, " Behold the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah
not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD."
This prophecy will be fulfilled at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
